As for our trip, it is wonderful. We have been out 1 1/2 weeks and have seen gorgeous country, tall mountains, nature at its best and beautiful weather everywhere. We spent a day in Lincoln, NE. and visited with rod’s family. We then drove to Colorado, Estes Park and visited the Rocky Mt. National Park. We saw some wild life, elk heard, deer, marmot and horses and cattle. Great shops and ice cream. From there we drove to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, a relatively new 11 years, Nat’l park. High cliffs that do not allow the sun to penetrate, there the name black. We drove all around and then took a road that took us all the way down into the canyon where the river was flowing in rapids. our next stop was the Great Sand dunes, also new, 2004. These sand dunes look like nothing from the distance, but when we got up close, they stretched for miles and I hiked up about 3/4 of the way with our friend donald and lattie Dah. It looked the a scene from Laurence of Arabia! Hills and valleys of sand with people hiking and rolling down the sand hills. Quite Amazing. Yesterday we were in Durango,Co. and we took the train up the mt. and through the most gorgeous country, following a rushing river to the old town of Silverton, co. Only about 200+ people live in silverton through the winter, with the highway and train sometimes blocking entry of any goods. Today we visited Mesa Verde, one of the sites of the ancient cliff dwellings. We went on a park ranger tour and climbed down and then up along side the Mt. to look into some of these dwellings. Tomorrow, Thur. we drive to Monument Valley, where one can recognize scenes from all the old western movies, including most belonging to John Wayne. Colorado has so much to see. We were missing a cord to down load pictures, but will do so tomorrow, hopefully.
