SEDONA, AZ

We are spending a few days in Sedona and outlining areas. This morning we took the Pink Jeep tour for 4 hours and traveled through pretty rough territory and then visited the ancient ruins where pueblo people lived below the mesas.

This is very similar to Mesa Verde Nat'l park, but so much prettier with the red rocks and green foliage. In the afternoon, we visited Lattie Dah in a kennel, took her out for the day, and decided to keep her hidden overnight in our timeshare room. We'll see how it goes. we'll return her to the kennel tomorrow morning when rod visits a Chiropractor, for the second time. Anyway, after picking up Lattie, we drove the Ghost town of Jerome, about 40 min. west of Sedona. We ate in the old hotel overlooking the whole valley area. Breathtaking views and wonderful cool weather due to the high altitude.
A funny thing happened yesterday that has kept the four of us rolling in laughter during our excursions. When we moved into this timeshare, The Ridge at Sedona Golf Club, we had to bring in all our stuff from the motorhome. well,
I forgot my contact lens case. So Rod said to me to use 2 glasses from the kitchen area. I did this, placing the lenses in the 2 glasses and neatly placing them to the left of the sink in the bathroom, with my glass case in front, to mark the area. well, the next morning, while I was doing my thing in the bath, I suddenly noticed that on glass was out of alignment and when I looked inside, low and be hold, there was no blue circular spot! I ran out of the bathroom, a bit upset, yelling, YOU SWALLOWED MY LENS! Well, if you can imagine, we have been making jokes about this incident on every occasion during the day. Donald Carrington, has been hysterical. I'll try and share some of the humor when I post the pictures tomorrow.

As for our trip, it is wonderful. We have been out 1 1/2 weeks and have seen gorgeous country, tall mountains, nature at its best and beautiful weather everywhere. We spent a day in Lincoln, NE. and visited with rod’s family. We then drove to Colorado, Estes Park and visited the Rocky Mt. National Park. We saw some wild life, elk heard, deer, marmot and horses and cattle. Great shops and ice cream. From there we drove to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, a relatively new 11 years, Nat’l park. High cliffs that do not allow the sun to penetrate, there the name black. We drove all around and then took a road that took us all the way down into the canyon where the river was flowing in rapids. our next stop was the Great Sand dunes, also new, 2004. These sand dunes look like nothing from the distance, but when we got up close, they stretched for miles and I hiked up about 3/4 of the way with our friend donald and lattie Dah. It looked the a scene from Laurence of Arabia! Hills and valleys of sand with people hiking and rolling down the sand hills. Quite Amazing. Yesterday we were in Durango,Co. and we took the train up the mt. and through the most gorgeous country, following a rushing river to the old town of Silverton, co. Only about 200+ people live in silverton through the winter, with the highway and train sometimes blocking entry of any goods. Today we visited Mesa Verde, one of the sites of the ancient cliff dwellings. We went on a park ranger tour and climbed down and then up along side the Mt. to look into some of these dwellings. Tomorrow, Thur. we drive to Monument Valley, where one can recognize scenes from all the old western movies, including most belonging to John Wayne. Colorado has so much to see. We were missing a cord to down load pictures, but will do so tomorrow, hopefully.
